Derek Holder is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and the Medical Director for our growing Telestroke Program as well as our Hyperacute Stroke Team. He received his M.D. from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago, Illinois. After medical school, he completed a Neurology residency at the University of California-Davis. He then came to Washington University where he completed a Vascular Neurology clinical fellowship.

As the director of our Telestroke Program, Dr. Holder routinely performs emergent evaluations of patients in smaller hospitals around Missouri and southern Illinois. In clinic, he sees patients with a history of transient ischemic attack (TIA), ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke. His research interests focus on novel methods of hyperacute stroke care.
