Alyssa Smith is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics. She received her undergraduate degree in bioinformatics from Loyola University Chicago and her medical degree from Rush Medical College. She completed her child neurology residency and pediatric neurocritical care fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Smith leads the Neurorehabilitation Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and is a Pediatric Acute Stroke Attending. She is a member of the International Pediatric Stroke Organization and the Pediatric Neurocritical Care Research Group. Her clinical research is focused on outcomes after pediatric brain injury. She is the site PI for the StrokeNet I-ACQUIRE study which is a Phase III clinical trial to compare the efficacy of two dosages of an infant rehabilitation protocol (I-ACQUIRE) to the standard of care for infant rehabilitation in infants who have experienced Perinatal Arterial Ischemic Stroke.
